Deed Requirements

A valid deed must: (1) be in writing; (2) identify the grantor and grantee; (3) contain words of conveyance (granting clause); (4) describe the property; and (5) be signed by the grantor. Delivery and acceptance are required for the conveyance to be effective; consideration is not required.
